The "530 User cannot log in" error is caused by an invalid FTP login credential being submitted during the authentication process. If you are seeing that error when attempting to FTP to your web hosting service, either the FTP username or password (or both) is incorrect.

We recommend that you log in to Control Panel and find the account information that pertains specifically to your FTP username. Make sure you are entering the correct format and FTP username to access the web server via FTP.

How to create an additional FTP user

You can have up to 3 additional Windows users (for a total of four) on each web hosting account. Additional users can be used for password protection and FTP.

To set up an additional FTP user:

Log in to Control Panel and go to the User Manager.

Create a new user by entering the required information in the blank fields under "Active Users" (the blank fields will not be visible if you already have 3 additional users).

Go to the Permission Manager.

Assign permissions for the User. For example, if you want this user to have read/write access to your entire site, assign Read and Write permission to the user in the root directory.
